New Years Eve

Baselined deadlift and chins today.  Worked up to a 5 rep set @ 295, and got 7-7 chins.  Holy shit are my hips tight...

Fucking UFC gym is such a pain in the ass.  They act like they're not a globo gym, but they don't have chalk or even collars at their 4 lifting platforms.  AND they hit me with a vague hidden "annual enhancement fee".  If I was paying for this membership, I'd give them a real piece of my mind.  end rant.

14 weeks out from PLing Meet in Texas

Greyskull LP...
Sunday 12.30.2018
Press: 2x5, 1x5+ @157.5 lbs (last set - 8 reps)
Lat Pulldown: 2x6-8 @140 lbs (8, 8 reps)

Squat: 2x5, 1x5+ @275 lbs (last set - 8 reps)

Other lifts:
Bench LP is at 225 lbs (16 reps on last set) and deadlift LP is at 295 lbs (10 reps).

Goal is to max out lifts on 3x5 as long as possible and then continue the LP doing 3x3. Not sure I’ll get to 3x3 on all lifts by the time of the meet, so I plan to increase weight between training sessions by more than prescribed. Six weeks out I’ll start doing heavy singles and doubles after my working sets.

Somehow between now and thanksgiving I’ve gained 15 lbs. Need to get back to 231 lbs to compete at 105kg. Doing rowing or burpees for short conditioning sessions on off days. Will try to dial in my diet as well, especially reducing carb intake.

Goal for the meet is 405/315/520. Can’t wait...

2019 USAPL Texas Iron Triathlon

2019 USAPL Iron Triathlon, Ft Worth TX, 4/6/2019

AGK and RWB signed up for this meet.  I'm at least going to attend as Coach, after AGK sent out the bat signal that is the 70sbig 2012 raw nats vid.

Went in today to move some weight and see where my baseline stands.  It's not pretty after not keeping a training program going for more than a month in the last 2 years...

Starting off real slow.  Worked up to the following 5 rep sets, where things started to get slightly challenging.
Squat: 155
Bench: 105
Deadlift: didn't do this, but surely my least atrophied lift

Estimating I've got something sad like an 800 lb total right now @ 152 lb bw.  We'll see how the next few weeks go, and I'll decide if I'd like to compete.  A well-rounded fitness reboot (barbell LP + metcons) might lend itself well to leaning out and being respectable in the 143 lb weight class.  I am coming off a work injury of my right knee and foot, so I don't want to push things too hard right out of the gates.

Encouraging those dudes to post their training here.  And encouraging any of you to join us if you're interested in a meet or just a fun weekend.

Good to be back, long road ahead.
