Mo' Tabata

25 lb. resistance and 50 lb. resistance bands came in the mail on Friday (along with a new cable jump rope - I SUCK at double unders).  Had robin try pullups with the 50 lb. band.  She got 3 pullups a couple of times, which I thought was good.  Gonna have her try both bands at the same time to see if she can get up to 10 pullups.  I'll let you bois know how that goes. 

Sunday:

6x5 strict pullups with 25 lb. resistance (red band)
Conditioning:
Tabata
Burpees
Double Unders
Barbell Snatch at 75 lb.
Situps

46 burpees, a whopping 22 double unders, 41 snatches, 96 situps.
I think the new jump rope is faster than what i'm used to.  Gonna take some practice.

Saturday:
Max kipping pullups attempt: 25 (pr)

Tabata Squats:
136 reps

Back Squat: 2-2-2-2-2
185-195-205-215-225

Tabata Squats:
137

Extremely happy with the tabata squats numbers.  Averaged 17 reps and 17.125 reps.  Crossfit Journal says 18-20 reps per round on tabata squats is really good.  Also really happy with the max pullups attempt, though I think I can still get more.  The pr was on a fatbar pullup bar, too.

  1. well done on those kipping pull-ups man! i should see what my max is. if it's less than you, then i'll either kill myself or try harder.

  2. haha, hopefully just try harder. i watched a vid with greg amundson on the cf journal a couple weeks ago where he says people should practice kipping pullups everyday - if not for max effort, then try to do 5 perfect or "virtuous" pullups for form. i've been trying to hit the pullups everyday and i think it really helps.

  3. i have a pullup bar in the doorway of my bedroom. i try to do at least one set of max strict pullups everyday (which is around 8 to 11 depending on how i'm feeling). i should probably do more sets.

    i might start doing double unders as warm up before every CF class. i really need to get those down -- i should have them by now.
