Oly training

Preparation for the Olympic weightlifting meet on April 20 is underway.  So far I've done my strength work on my own and oly work with my coach, but we're going to start programming strength stuff into the coaching sessions (pulls and front and back squats, with back squats in maintenance mode).  On my own, I'll  be doing 1-2 days of pressing and back work (RDL, good morning, rows, etc).  The meet is only 6 weeks away!

Hit a nice PR today: 105kg (231lbs) on the C&J (95kg was my old pr, so I was very happy).  What made this PR happen, I think, is that I am now much better able to keep my back in the correct position, which allows me to impart a lot more power onto the bar.  I tried 110kg but didn't have it.  The main issue now is that I don't get under the bar fast enough.

  1. congrats on the PR, you got any video of your lifts?

nothing worth writing about on my end, still don't feel like i've fully recovered from my trip to taiwan. i did light clean technique work today, working on sliding the bar up my thighs on the second pull instead of bouncing it off my quads. had a breakthrough today, when i focus on pulling my hips open and leaning backwards slightly my shoulders seem to be pulled into a better position, getting the bar higher on my thighs during the second pull and resulting in a brush up my thighs rather than a bounce. looking forward to drilling this more in the coming weeks, gonna basically reset my clean PR and work up as slowly as needed with as sound form as possible.

cf games open begins this week and runs for the next 5 weeks. i also have a team cf competition in april. DCF has two 4 man teams (2 guys, 2 girls) competing in the midatlantic affiliate challenge in maryland by BWI i think, gonna be a lot of fun.

  2. Sadly no video of this one. I did discover though that my phone has an awesome slo-mo function that can record at 1/8 the speed.
