Update (MB)

There's about 1.25 months between me and the GoRuck event. I've been following a modified Texas Method program -- volume on Monday, intensity on Friday. I deloaded quite a bit for this, and have also switched to low bar back squats. In between Mon/Fri, I have continued attending Track Club on Tuesdays, started climbing a bit, and added another day of running and/or CrossFit. I'm going to start posting my workouts everyday (no matter how short they are) because, well, I miss you guys.

Friday (Intensity)
Squat: 245x1x5
Bench: 185x1x5
Deadlift: 285x1x5
Pull-ups (ME): 9-8-8

Saturday
Ran 2 miles at 7.5mph

Sunday
2.5 hours of bouldering

Yesterday (Volume)
Squat: 195x5x5
Press: 105x5x5
Pull-ups (ME): 7-6-6 (sore from climbing)

  2. don't know that there is a right/wrong shoe for low bar but might be worth experimenting with oly/weightlifting shoes vs flatter chuck taylor/inov8 style shoes for low bar. well actually conventional running shoes/nike shox are wrong for everything.

"Powerlifting squat shoes have relatively flat soles, and Olympic weightlifting shoes have a little lift in the heel that makes it easier to get the knees forward just in front of the toes. Your choice will depend on your squatting style and your flexibility."

  7. So I technically low bar, but since i have very long torso and short legs, my low bar is basically everyone else's highbar. All that is different for me is the bar placement on my torso, which stays pretty upright regardless.

  8. so you have the bar in the low bar position but your torso is upright like a high bar and you're using more quads than posterior chain?

  9. Precisely.

I also use the bounce big time. Plus I basically do ATG except my quads are kind of big so ATG is like, slightly below parallel.
